The Sandwich Lover's Guide to Austin Neighborhoods

Not all sandwich pilgrimages are created equal. Here's a quick breakdown of where to head based on where you are in the city.

If you're Downtown, Meat & Bread on Nueces Street is an easy walk from most offices and hotels. It's lunch-only, so plan accordingly — they close at 4 PM on weekdays.

In Hyde Park and North Loop, you're spoiled for choice. New World Deli on Guadalupe is the neighborhood anchor, open until 9 PM most nights. Just up the road, both Otherside Deli and FoodHeads are clustered near W 34th Street, making that block a legitimate sandwich destination.

Over in Cherrywood, SPREAD & CO. on Manor Road brings a more European-influenced, cafe-style take to the scene — great for a morning sandwich or a leisurely afternoon bite.

Head North toward Airport Blvd and you'll find Deep End Subs, a food truck punching well above its weight. And in the Crestview/Wooten area, Little Deli & Pizzeria on Woodrow Avenue remains one of the most consistently beloved spots in the entire city.

Austin's sandwich scene is real, it's diverse, and it's only getting better. We'll keep you posted on every new opening, every menu change, and every sandwich worth crossing town for. That's The Sandwich Situation.
